The fire killed some 35 people in the camp, established for people fleeing fighting in Myanmar. The blaze also destroyed 400 dwellings and left 3,828 people without shelter.
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees has provided temporary housing but the PMC hopes to make life more tolerable with gifts of daily necessities until things get back to normal for the refugees.
Until the end of this month the PMC is open to donations of anything “necessary to living”, which should be taken to its offices next to the Phuket Provincial Hall. It is the single-story building just inside the Damrong Rd (northern) entrance of the Provincial Hall compound.
At the end of the month the donations will be carried to Mae Hong Son by the Kusonlatham Foundation.
