Odd constructions with unconventional designs soon randomly popped up like mushrooms in a field.
Now this eclectic village is home to the Red Gallery, The Jerm Space, P. Fire Gallery, Ta-Lung Studio, The Love Art Studio and Tawan-ook Art Gallery, with the Phu-La Art Studio currently under construction.
The Phuket Art Village has now become one of those places that locals proudly show off to friends and family, a curious treasure away from the well beaten tourist tracks, a little known gem that rounds out our community with arts, music and odd arty types.
It is a place chock full of original art by Thai artists, showcasing a large range of styles, from traditional Thai to contemporary and quirky, sculptures and paintings, small drawings and large murals.
The artists open their doors and their lives to the community, welcoming everyone to not just come and view but to join in, participate and be part of the art.
On the first Saturday of each month the Phuket Art Village hosts the Phuket Art Village Party – a celebration of arts and music for the community to enjoy.
The next event is on February 2, with a pre-Valentine’s Day party celebrating love – for friends, family, the community and the world!
Starting at about 5pm, it includes an exciting programme filled with arts and music activities for kids, performances and live music, Thai and foreign food and drinks and more.
Enjoy an evening with the artists, friends and family in the relaxed and unique atmosphere that is the Phuket Art Village.
