Director of Marketing Communications Nampetch Tipaxsorn said staff practised the routine, which features the hit song Gangnam Style, twice a week for two months at the Phuket Danz Step Studio, with choreographer Jarvey Dela Paz.
Most of the people who were involved were hotel staff, plus a few hired dancers who posed as tourists and bell boys.
The dance also features hotel General Manager Hansruedi Frutiger, who gets involved at the end of the video.
“We did this as a surprise for our guests, and to do something different in Phuket,” Ms Nampetch said.
A flash mob is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a place, perform an unusual and seemingly pointless act for a brief time, then disperse. Famous flash mob dances shown on YouTube include ones performed at Liverpool Street Station in London, and Grand Central Terminal in New York.
Already the video has 4,500 views on YouTube.
