“He needs about 10 units of blood for the surgery and another two units of blood platelet,” said Ms Vathu.
O-negative is very rare among Asians. “Only three in 1,000 people in Thailand have O-negative blood,” she said.
The center normally opens until 4:30 pm on Wednesdays, but today staff will stand by for O-negative donations until 6 pm.
The PRBC schedule is: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 08:30 -16:30, Tuesday 08:30 – 20:00, Thursday 09:00-15:00.
