Phuket Gov pays tribute to King Rama V

PHUKET: Phuket Governor Maitree Intusut, along with other officials, paid tribute to the late King Chulalongkorn, also known as King Rama V, by laying a wreath at his statue at the Phuket Provincial Hall this morning.

Phuket Governor Maitree Intusut, along with other officials, pays tribute to the late King Chulalongkorn.

Today (October 23) marks the anniversary of his death in 1910, and is a public holiday in Thailand.

King Rama V was named Phra Piya Maharat which means the great beloved king.

Provinces across Thailand hold special ceremonies today to mark the date, including a large ceremony at Chulalongkorn University which was established by King Rama V.
