Witnesses told investigators that the man had entered the premises, but was scared off by presence of a sleeping worker.
Neighbours, however, spotted him and called police, who surrounded the Sor Napaka Wasadu Korsang Construction Materials shop.
The burglar, Adul Boon-oom, 32, of Nongbualamphu province, tried to lose the police by taking a dark path running beside Wat Tai Buddhist Temple. Officers gave chase, however, and ran him down.
Seized as evidence were a Nokia cellphone, a black backpack and a Phuket-registered Yamaha motorbike.
He was charged with breaking and entering at night and was taken to Chalong Police Station where he admitted the offence.
