Deputy Chief of the Royal Thai Police Lt Gen Sriwara Rangsipromkul yesterday flew from Bangkok to Nakhon Sri Thammarat where Muhammad was being detained to question him about the two blasts in the island’s main entertainment hub on Mother’s Day morning.
Lt Gen Sriwara said, “One of the suspects, Muhammad Muhi, 20, confessed that he he was the person who planted the two bombs in Patong.
“During the course of questioning he told us about bombs and then started to cry. He later told us that he received the bombs from a group leader from the three southern border provinces and that he carried the bombs to Phuket from the deep south by bus,” Lt Gen Sriwara said.
Lt Gen Sriwara confirmed that all details will be passed on to court officials and that a re-enactment Muhammad was presented to media during a meeting held at Phuket City Police Station at 2pm on October 20.
Officers from the Royal Thai Police flew to Phuket from Bangkok on Oct 20 and were then flown to Phuket City Police Station via helicopter with the Muhammad. They then held the meeting to update local police regarding the two bombs which exploded in Patong on the morning of Aug 12. (See story here.)
