Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra had been due to attend the gala opening at the Blue Elephant restaurant on Krabi Rd, Phuket Town.

The spokesperson said that there were two reasons for the postponement: the fact that the organising committee was unable to complete all the arrangements in time; and the moving of Worawat Ua-Apinyakul from PM’s Office Minister to the post of Minister of Science in the Cabinet reshuffle at the end of October.

The event is part of an initiative launched by Mr Worawat, who ordered all the Andaman coast provinces to hold events promoting local culture.

A new date for the festival has yet to be set.
