Patong resort marks 30th birthday

Thara Patong Beach Resort and Spa celebrated 30 years of serving Patong tourists last Saturday.

Over the years the resort, built by Chinese descendant Bundit Khoo-Aroon, has gone from a group of small cottages to a contemporary building with a lush green atmosphere.

Mr Bundit said he had done many other jobs before becoming a business owner.

“I used to do many kinds of menial jobs, but I learned that if you are patient and work hard, you will find an opportunity to be successful,” Mr Bundit said.

“And also, if you have many parties involved in running your business, you must be decisive.”

Mr Bundit eventually bought the 28,800 sqm plot of land in Patong, which became the location of Thara Patong Beach Resort and Spa, only the second resort to be built in Phuket.

“To satisfy our guests is a priority,” Piyaphol Khoo-Aroon, the current director of the resort said. “Our resort is unique among others because of its green environment and good service.”
