Patong police hunting for Bangla shooter

PHUKET: Patong Police have identified the 34-year-old man who allegedly shot another man in the car park near Bangla Rd early this morning (July 27) as Patong resident Thanaphol Phatkaew.

Patong Hospital alerted Maj Theerasak Boonsang of the Patong Police to the shooting at 3:41am.

The victim, Sayan Padungsap, 35, sustained four gunshot wounds: to his abdomen (left side), hip (back right), left foot and lower left leg.

Mr Sayan told police that Thanaphol shot him then fled the scene, leaving his vehicle behind at the parking lot, reported Maj Theerasak.

“Witnesses said that both men knew each other and they were having an argument which resulted in the shooting,” he said.

“We theorise that Sayan and Thanaphol met at the car park to settle some issue, but the negotiations went wrong and resulted with the suspect shooting Sayan four times,” he added.

“We are seeking a warrant of arrest for Mr Thanaphol now,” Maj Teerasak said.

Sayan was later transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital in Phuket Town.

Very well said, Ed Sanders.
We all know about the propaganda of CCTV and safe tourist zones in Patong.
It is all bla bla.
Often we see impressing police boys in brown walking Bangla Rs, with a self satisfactory smile.
They just fool the tourists.
Did you notice they always walk with a mobile phone in their hand like a life belt at sea? Just laugh.

For real police work teams from BKK come in to Phuket, and do in 3 days what Patong police not can ( or not want?) to do in 6 months.

It seems to be a common theme here, no self control and violence is the men's answer to everything, I thing gun's should be outlawed on the island, in fact all of Thailand as it seems the "men" here have no self control!

Angry little boys with weapons and no self control. As someone mentioned in another post, why are there CCTV cameras located all over this dangerous island, but not total coverage along Soi Bangla, one of the more likely areas for assaults to occur to tourists as well as violence involving angry and short-tempered males that cannot control themselves? This criminal punk thug rattled off 4 shots, any of which could have missed and hurt innocent people. We should also commend the boys in brown for more good police work...NOT!!!.
