The dead boy was named as Wirachach (“Hero Boy”) Sae-Min, of Karon, a student of Commercial Studies at Phuket Technology College.
Police said he died of a broken skull. Wirachai’s friend Kreut Nilawadi, 17, was badly injured in the smash and was rushed to Vachira Phuket Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
Police said the pair were coming from the direction of Wat Chalong, headed homeward to Karon, when Wirachai lost control and crashed into the power pole.
