Amcham now plans another thought-provoking seminar, on design of homes on the island.

The workshop, titled “Design Evolution”, will see three leading international designers – Hong Kong-based Adrian McCarroll of Original Vision, Clint Nagata of Bangkok’s Blink Design Group and noted designer of Twinpalms Martin Palleros – make visual presentations and discuss their favorite projects.

The island’s past, present and future trends will be laid out in this panel discussion moderated by Leisure Design Group’s Scott Gorsuch, who is also The Phuket News’ highly respected design columnist.

Amcham hopes to provoke debate on which architectural styles are most appropriate, functional, and aesthetically appealing on the island. Has it developed its own style? What are the leading examples of this?

The session will conclude with an open forum giving attendants the opportunity to ask McCarroll and Nagata about their work, or provide opinions on the design direction Phuket should be taking.

Design Evolution will be held on Friday, March 9, in the Royal Phuket Marina function room.

Registration will start at 4 pm and the workshop will run from 5 to 6.20 pm. A networking event will follow. The event is open to the public and cost is B100 per person, including drinks.
