The couple spend about B750,000 restoring the old American classic in Bangkok, before bringing it to Phuket last month.

The car was originally a left-hand-drive, but Mr Charat has had it converted, along with many other additions like bucket seats. He has also converted the engine to run on LPG.

The original 4.0 litre V8 engine remains under the hood though, providing plenty of grunt and a top speed of more than 180kmh.

The restoration was a long, painstaking process – the engineer had to patiently go through a long list of parts to be modified and restored.

It took more than a year and a half to get it to its current state, but there is still some more minor work to be done.

“It took a long time for the engineer to work on the car, and I was often feeling tired and frustrated. Now that it is finally finished though, I am so pleased with the result.” Mr Charat said.

“It has been a learning process – I have learnt a lot about classic cars in the past three to four years. This kind of car stands out from the crowd; I selected this one because of its classic design, and the orange colour accentuates that.”

Mr Charat and his wife said they take the car out every weekend, but are now planning a slightly longer trip to Krabi or Hat Yai.
