Small boats and ferries should stay on shore, the department warned, as heavy winds are likely to drive waves from 2 to 4 metres in height.
There will be another high tide tonight, reaching 3.5 metres at 11pm. If combined with heavy rain this could once again result in flooding, especially in Patong.
Kathu District Chief Weera Kerdsirimongkol told The Phuket News, “Last night, many roads, especially Pang Muang Sai Kor Rd (in Patong), were so deep in water as to make them impassable.
“Now, every road in the Patong area is back to normal. We have already cleaned the mud from the roads.
“Kathu District has teams and equipment ready if people need help again.
“If there is heavy rain again tonight, I believe the flooding will be deeper than last night.”
