Mini marathon to marks Heroines’ victory
A mini-marathon is planned as part of this year’s celebrations of the anniversary of the 1785 victory led by Phuket’s heroines, Thao Thepkrasattree and Thao Sri Sunthon, over Burmese invaders.
Friday 11 March 2011, 08:17AM
On Sunday (March 13) the race will start at 6 am from the Thalang Battle Memorial Field (Kok Chana Phama). There will be two courses, one of 4.5 km and one of 10.5 km.
Entry is free and the organisers are also laying on a free breakfast for runners. Athletes who do not relish the idea of getting up in the dark to travel to the start may bring along bedding the evening before and stay the night in the village hall at Moo 4, Baan Don.
Competitors may register at the Education Office at the Thepkrassattree Tambon Administration Organisation (OrBorTor) between 8:30 am and 8 pm today or tomorrow, or at the Thalang Battle Memorial Field on the Sunday, between 4:30 and 5:30 am.
For more information contact the Thepkrassattree Education Office at Tel 076 274573, Ext 29.
