Medium attendant's throat cut
An investigation into the murder of 40-year-old Taoist ‘medium attendant’ Kasidich Tabonwat led to the arrest of a 16-year-old boy in Trang on Friday.

Mr Kasidich was discovered with his throat cut in a rented room on Wat Nikrot Rd, Tab Tiang tambon, within Trang town’s municipal limits.
He was employed to attend to ‘ma songs’ - or Taoist mediums, at the nearby San Jao Chiang Jui Jo Cheu shrine.
The victim was found in his room at 12.30 am on August 2. Besides the wound to his throat, Mr Kasidich had been stabbed three times in the chest and once in the back. Police at the time said they believed the perpetrator was someone well known to the victim, and that the crime was ancillary to robbery, as Mr Kasidich’s wallet was missing. The police also said that the murder may have been the result of a dispute over a girl.
On Friday a 16-year-old boy surrendered to police at Trang town headquarters. Trang deputy police superintendent Pol Lt Col Methi Jantngam described the boy as “fit, good-looking and a student at a well-known local educational institution.”
“He confessed to killing Kasidich in the latter’s rented room,” said Methi, “and said he did it alone. He has refused, however, to offer details concerning motive for the murder.”
Dang was charged with premeditated murder and transferred to a juvenile detention facility pending trial.
