Jonathan Trappe of North Carolina debuted the floating house at the Leon International Balloon Festival in Mexico in preparation for a 2,500 mile transatlantic balloon flight he plans to do in mid-2013.
“Every attempt before this was geared towards this flight. I’ve been training for a long time,” said Trappe, who in 2010 flew the house across the English Channel.
Trappe’s dream is reminiscent of the Pixar animation film Up, in which a 78-year-old man fulfills his dream of going to South America via a floating house carried by balloons.
