Love’s in the air at the Phuket District Office
PHUKET: One hundred and thirty couples were married at the Phuket City District Office in Phuket Town this morning, marking Valentine’s Day (February 14).

When The Phuket News visited, the office was full with couples waiting in line to register their marriage on this, the official day of love. They also received a special gift from Muang District Chief Sirinee Leelanon to mark the occasion.
“Today is special. We chose Valentine’s Day to get married because we believe it will bring us good luck and a happy life,” said new husband Tossaporn Haruhansawasin.
Johan Winther and Maja Enevoldsen from Denmark also registered their marriage today.
“We are very happy to get married here in Phuket. We plan to hold a wedding ceremony at Kata Noi Beach tonight.” said Mr Winther.
The only disappointment was for Ms Sirinee, who had hoped that the number of people choosing to marry on Valentine’s Day would exceed last year's figure.
It was not to be. This year's number fell short by six couples.
