Acting on a tip off that trucks were dumping rubbish in the lagoon on Soi Songkhun, Chalong Mayor Samran Jindapon and his team lay in wait at the spot early this morning (December 14) and caught four pick-up trucks between 2 am and 5:30 am.
Mayor Samran said that the offenders had been handed over to Santi Phuttharaksa, Director of Health, Chalong Municipality, so that they “would be fined according to the law”.
Section 380 of the Thai Penal Code states, “Whoever causes the water in a well, pond or reservoir provided for public use to be filthy, shall be imprisoned for not more than one month or fined not more than B1,000, or both.”
