Sai Nam Yen Rd, Soi Sansabai and Soi Bangla are all flooded, as is Pang Muang Sai Kor Rd, to the east of JungCeylon, which has been closed to traffic.
Patong Hospital is surrounded by floods and is reportedly difficult to get to.
In Phuket Town, the downtown area around Rassada and Yaowarat Rds was flooded earlier today but with the rain easing, the water has now receded.
An official at the Southern Meteorological Center for the West Coast said, “We have recorded more than 35 millimeters of rain in the 24 hours to 7am today, which coincided with a rising tide [reaching high tide at midday], which means that floodwater cannot drain into the sea in some areas.
“We expect that, with the rain abating and the tide now falling, the floods will drain away fairly soon.”
