The gold came from the girls’ soft tennis team, who beat their Nakhon Ratchasima opponents in the final rounds of their competition.

The boys’ team were unable to outplay Bangkok in their finals, having to settle for second place and the silver.

The other silver came through Chaowat Chomcheuy, who came second in today’s final rounds of the boys’ Nanquan Wushu (Chinese martial arts) event with a score of 8.06.

Earlier this morning, runner Siriyakorn Kamlai added a bronze medal to Phuket’s haul. In the 3,000-metre event, she finished in a time of 11 minutes and 15 seconds.

With two bronze medals going to Phuket yesterday (May 28) in the girls’ table tennis competition and the cycling team road time trials, Phuket’s total medal tally now stands at one gold, two silvers, and three bronzes.

By 3pm today, Bangkok had raced ahead of Chonburi to head the medals table with 23 golds, 13 silvers and 15 bronze medals. Chonburi has 12 golds, 11 silvers and 11 bronzes.

Other provinces in the top ten are: Samut Prakan (10, 8, 12), Nakhon Sri Thammarat (8, 10, 3), Chiang Mai (8, 9, 6), Suphanburi (6, 10, 10), Nakhon Ratchasima (5, 7, 10), Chantaburi (5, 3, 3) and Lampang (4, 5, 3).
