Fiery start to Laguna festival
PHUKET: The Laguna Phuket Summer Festival got off to a fiery festive start on Saturday night when Gretta Caponetto of the Tamburella Show twirled her fire sticks and juggled them in the air.

Risking injury, she also danced with a hula hoop that was ablaze.
The event was held at the Canal Shopping Village at Laguna Phuket in Cheung Talay.
Children with green and blue painted faces sat wide-eyed on the ground at the feet of their parents who were obviously also enjoying the show. Smoke and the inviting aroma of hamburgers and sausages drifted over from the barbecue tent that was busy grilling up plates of food for dinner.
Laughter and screaming could be heard coming from the jumping castle, the trampoline and the Kidzsole Flying Trapeze.
On the stage, the very young band members of the Screaming Hypocrites, made up of students of the British International School, soon launched into an impressive repertoire of rock music.
Director of Marketing, Communications and Events, Robin Wilson, and Assistant Vice-President of Destination Marketing, Debbie Dionysius, said they were pleased with the launch of the festival, which will run from June 25 to August 27.
The idea is that children can come to enjoy a fun fair of DJ music, quiz shows, dancing and art lessons with Australian resident artist Chris Hogan (from July 18), while their parents can relax a little, have a quiet meal, and take a little break from the school holidays.
To help them with that, there is a Happy Hour in the evening at the beer tent as well.
