Staff from the Phuket Marine Biological Center (PMBC) and locals had to use a jet-ski to nudge the dolphin towards the shore so that it could be caught and taken to the PMBC at Cape Panwa.
The dolphin, thought to be about two years old, is 1.2 metres long and weighs 20 kilograms.
After examining the animal, PMBC vet Patcharaporn Keaemoang said the dolphin had a blood infection, though no wound had been found on her body.
She is now in “intensive care”, which includes a course of antibiotics.
