The alcohol ban comes because of the Phuket City Municipality Elections tomorrow.
Local electors will vote for two people: their preferred representative on the municipal council, and their preference for Mayor of the city.

PHUKET: The sale of alcohol in restaurants, shops and entertainment venues in Phuket City (Tambon Talad Nuea and Tambon Talad Yai), will be banned from 6pm tonight (June 15) until midnight at the end of tomorrow (June 16).
