At the scene, in Pattaya city centre, olice saw a taxi with its windows smashed and a brick that was believed to be the object that the tourist used to smash the window.
The driver of the damaged taxi told the police that as he was driving his taxi back to his residence, a tourist approached his car, he then opened a window asking what he wanted, but soon after he opened his window down, the tourist then grabbed the driver’s arm.
The driver immediately shook off the tourist’s hand and drove off to park nearby. But as he was parking the tourist walked up to the taxi and smashed it with a brick. He then asked locals to capture the man and inform the police. The tourist was identified as 36 year-old Vincent Vanmi, an Australian national.
Police Lt. Colonel Weerut Meelai said that both Mr Vincent and the taxi driver reached an agreement with regards to the damage fee. Mr Vincent agreed to pay B20,000 to the taxi driver.
