Police said Phuket private taxi driver Warongsak Rungsawang, 28, lost control on the Mak Prok corner, also with a dangerous reputation, and hit a power pole.
The Mak Prok corner is around three kilometres from the Khor Ane corner, where locals famously blockaded the road in protest of the dangerous corner and its lack of safety measures and warnings.
Warongsak was driving south, towards Phuket, and police say he was speeding and lost control on the bend.
“His car was badly damaged and his bones were broken in many places,” said Nattapol Pothisan, a Kusoltham Foundation volunteer.
