Called to the scene of the death in front in front of the Thalang National Museum, near the Heroines Monument, police were told that the accident happened as the driver of the crane, 42-year-old Anukul Wecharat, from Phang Nga, was driving it up onto a transporter trailer.
Witnesses said that Mr Anukul got the angle of approach wrong, causing the crane to topple over, with him under it.
Another crane truck was brought in to lift the toppled one off Mr Anukul’s body. The mess was cleaned up within an hour.
