Ratsamee Nantaprom, 39, called the police to report that her three daughters had made the horrendous discovery across the road from a seafood restaurant near the family home, on the road behind Wat Tha Reua, at 6:30am.
When police arrived, Ms Ratsamee and her neighbours had already brought down the body of her husband 43-year old Wirod Jadsang, explained Lt Col Sanit Nookong of the Thalang Police.
“A nylon rope tied to a tree branch had been cut with a sharp object and a ladder was nearby. The family had already moved the body to the sofa inside the home,” he said.
Police believe Mr Wirod had died only about two hours earlier.
“There were bruises around his neck, but we found no other injuries,” Lt Col Sanit said.
“The body was taken to Thalang Hospital for doctors to confirm the time and cause of death,” he added.
“Ms Ratsamee said her husband was a cook at a hotel in Phuket Town. He was quiet and kept things to himself and never mentioned any personal issues he had with her.” Lt Col Sanit explained.
However, the family believes Mr Wirot was suffering depression over an undisclosed issue, he added.
“The family believe this was a case of suicide, and hence we will not be investigating this any further,” he said.
