Hauled before the press at Chalong Police Station were Pan “Nang” Mitong, 29; Manas “Guy” Kasemsuwan, 26; and Pisit “Min” Kladpetch, 28. The three were captured at a no-number structure on Soi Rong Rian Baan Chalong. Police said they seized five tablets of methamphetamine (ya ba) from each.
Three others were also arrested: 25-year-old Seksan “Or” Welukam, with a bag containing two grams of crystal methamphetamine (ya ice), at a boatyard on Soi Kok Tanod; 29-year-old Kamoltip “Joy” Janleuang, with a bag containing 0.5 grams of ya ice; and 44-year-old Kanokwan “Oy” Kongintr, with 42 grams of ya ice and 250 ya ba tablets, in front of a house in Moo 4, Rawai.
Kanokwan was charged with possession for sale of a Schedule 1 restricted substance – a charge that could result in decades of jail-time.
Chalong superintendent Pol Col Sirisak Wasasiri said, “These arrests came about because Chalong Investigations Division inspector Pol Maj Warapongs Promintr went out looking for news about people selling drugs.
“He discovered that the suspects all were involved in selling or using drugs and so had a police spy set up deals to buy from each, with the result that all were arrested.”
It is not clear whether those arrested were part of the same Bangkok-supplied drug ring rounded up the following day, mostly in Phuket Town.
