Police Captain Urumporn Koondejsumrit, an Inspector with the Tourist Police, said “The man had received British Consul assistance and in lieu of having enough money to pay for his hotel in Patong had been staying in one of the rooms at the Tourist Police Headquarters.”
Inspector Urumporn said that as he was being “helped”, it was “weird” that he had decided to commit suicide.
The investigation showed that the man held a tourist visa which would have expired on November 5.
There are two rooms at the Tourist Police Headquarters used to house those in need of emergency assistance.
