Rogue Ales, a brewery and pub based in Newport, Oregon, sent in hair follicles from brewmaster John Maier’s beard as a goof to a local lab.
To their amazement, the yeast strain from the beard were said to be perfect for brewing.
Maier, who has been growing his beard since 1978, has dubbed the brew “New Crustacean” and is expected to be released in early 2013.
