It was one of the most memorable games for the Sega Dreamcast console when it was released in 2000. Although it was also a highly successful (and fun) arcade game, originally released in 1999, the home version of Crazy Taxi was just as good.
Though the success of the game was not enough to save the Sega Dreamacst, Crazy Taxi did go on to to have four sequels including one for the Game Boy Advance.
The premise of the game was for the user, as a cabby, to pick up customers and take them to their destination on time. The quicker the ride, the more money earned.
Along the way, the gamer could pick up money by performing stunts and pass obstacles. But be careful: too many stunts can spook your customer and make them walk out.
There was little to no depth in the game, but that was what made it a good time. Each new customer was basically a new game and users could experiment with stunts several times over.
It was a simple but entertaining game that was for the whole family. The game’s soundtrack, which featured the Offsrping and Bad Religion, was also what made Crazy Taxi stand out.
Sadly, the demise of the Dreamcast (a console that was a little ahead of its time) could not save the game and was later sold to PlayStation. Today, the game is available on all devices, even the iOS.
