The Meteorological Department of Thailand has warned that between May 25 and 28, waves could be higher than two metres following heavy rain.

At least ten longtail boats were either damaged or sunk off the Phi Phi islands, with one passenger suffering injury.

Another 30 longtail boats were damaged or sunk off Ao Nam Mao pier, Ao Nang, Krabi, where one of the boat's captains was also injured.

In addition, because of the bad weather, around 170 tourists were stuck on Koh Hong, located off the Krabi mainland, as longtails refused to make the perilous trip.

A team from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation were sent to pick up the tourists using two boats provided by the Krabi OrBorJor – one of them a Marine Police boat.
