Wit Sanusun, from Surin, now aged 38, was caught after Phayatai police in Bangkok received word that he had been living in Phuket since the murder and they contacted police here to look for him.
Pol Maj Somsak Tongmak of Kathu Police told The Phuket News that Wit’s home town was in Surin province but after the murder he knew that police would look for him there so he fled to the other end of the country, to Phuket, where he has been working as a small building contractor.
“We were told that he might be living in Tambon Wichit. When we found his house, he was standing in front of it. When he saw our officers arriving, he promptly surrendered and admitted his guilt,” Maj Somsak said.
“He left Bangkok a decade ago, and believed that he had managed to escape the police.”
Wit has already been sent to Phayatai Police Station.
