Ronnachai Sripangmuang, aged 23, from Kalasin province, escaped from the military and then returned to Phuket where his parents live.
“He wanted to escape from the military for three months,” Pol Capt Wittaya Sinjamroen said.
“He was in Kalasin, his birthplace, and was called by his parents to come to Phuket to talk about why he ran away. He hanged himself just a day after he arrived Phuket.”
The night before he died, his relatives invited Mr Ronnachai to drink together with them but he refused, and drank alone in front of his family’s house. His relatives added that he seemed quiet and sad that night. He drank until very late night while everyone in the house slept.
This morning (January 12) when Teera Sripangmuang, Mr Ronnachai’s father, woke up, he found his son dead at the front of the house.
Pol Capt Wittaya said Thung Thong police are still investigating the reasons behind the suicide.
