Jakkreut, 19, is accused of robbing the Sakuna Patong Gold Shop around 7pm on Thursday, when he entered alone and asked to buy a one-baht weight gold necklace (15 grammes), worth around B25,000.
He asked the shop salesperson, 25 year-old Sudaporn Tsaikliang, if he could try on a necklace. When the necklace was put around his neck, Jakkreut turned and ran to his motorbike, jumped on it, and sped towards Ban Mon and Ha Sib Pi Rd.
Before he could completely escape, however, the salesperson noted down the Phuket licence number of the thief’s black Honda Wave motorcycle.
But possibly Jakkreut’s most silly mistake was when he went to the gold shop in Phuket Town the next day to sell the necklace.
Police were tipped off and traced him to his residence, where he was arrested.
