PHUKET: Forty seven candidates signed up on Tuesday (July 31), the first day of registration for upcoming Provincial Council elections, scheduled for August 26.

Among them are former council members and local business people, including former Council President Pradit Sangjan: former councillor and Yamaha motorcycle dealer Anupart Wetwanitsanong; and the owner of Chaiyo Seafood restaurant, Theera Kiatsakul.
In the election voters will select one candidate each for Phuket’s 24 wards – 15 in Phuket City, six in Thalang District and three in Kathu District.
Registration will continue until August 4.
