2nd Accor Hotels ‘Heartbreak’ Hill Mini-Marathon’ 2016

ATHLETICS: After a successful 1st year, Accor hotels southern Thailand invites you to be part of another exciting and challenging event, the second”Heartbreak” Hill Mini-Marathon 2016.

Saturday 20 August 2016, 01:00PM

The Naithon-Layan hills will test runner’s right from the start until the end.

Why Heartbreak Hill? Heartbreak Hill refers to many steep ascents in the Naithon-Layan area during the race, considered difficult and challenging for the runners.

The Naithon-Layan hills will test runner’s right from the start until the end and the elevation is different for each climb. They want people to test themselves against the hills, you will either climb it or it will beat you.

To help encourage the runners entertainment will be provided on the hills including cheerleader groups, DJs and more.

There is no other mini marathon they are aware of on the island that has this type of challenge and excitement.

All of this will take place in the natural scenery around Naithon Beach, Layan Beach and the areas where they hope to rename “Heartbreak Hill” after the event as a reminder to those people training for their future mini-marathon.

The race starts at 6.00am on Sunday, September 18.

The objectives

To create an annual fundraising event which supports the improving education and well-being of underprivileged children within the community we all live and work. Their priority is to raise funds for local schools in Phuket and nearby provinces and support their Accor Yim Kids Project, which is a part of ACCOR HOTELS Corporate Social Responsibility.

The second objective is to encourage everyone to strengthen their bodies with exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle that provides a social connection between runners, hotel guests, associates, school children, university students, government officers and the local communities of Phuket and nearby provinces.
